240 SQM CHALET IN MÉRIBEL MOTTARET (SAVOIE)

CUSTOMIZED FURNITURE AND AMBIENCE

Delivered for Christmas, this 240 sqm family chalet in Méribel, spread over four levels, was entrusted to Agence Amevet for the furniture layout and ambiance design.
A project led by Chacha, Head of Furniture and Decoration Projects.

Her objective was to create an atmosphere that is both contemporary and warm, in harmony with the mountain setting, without ever leaning into a “rustic” style.
Carried out on a tight schedule, the project relied on smooth, regular, and fully remote communication with the owners, along with a meticulous selection of materials, colors, and furniture to create a living space that is refined, elegant, and comfortable.

Entrance and TV room: warmth and generosity

Right from the first floor, the tone is set: the materials are warm and inviting, and the seating and storage space for shoes and warm clothes are as generous as they are practical. The adjoining TV room, which can also be used as a games room, has been designed as a cocoon. An ultra-comfortable sofa bed with a low seat, a colorful ceiling, decorative wallpaper and a painting chosen by the children – a scene featuring lion cubs as heroes – add a soft family touch.

A challenge met!

Contact was made at the end of August 2024, via a recommendation from one of the agency’s customers. Objective: to fully furnish a 240 m² chalet in Méribel Mottaret, intended for mixed use (second home and high-end rental) and deliver it “turnkey” before Christmas. Deadlines were tight, but the agency accepted the challenge.

The assignment covers ambience, furniture, textiles and certain decorative elements. No architectural design is planned, but Chacha and his team work closely with the project architect and the client. The London-based couple’s relationship with Chacha is fluid, responsive and friendly, mainly on What’app.

Level 3: Places for sharing

This is the heart of the chalet! The kitchen was not designed by the agency, but Chacha was involved from the back kitchen onwards to structure the spaces and optimize their use. In the dining room, everything was designed to comfortably seat 12 people. A Calligaris table with an imitation-granite ceramic top was chosen after extensive research, as space was at a premium given the desired capacity. It is surrounded by light, comfortable armchairs. Five copper-colored Tom Dixon pendant lights, deliberately more expressive than the rest of the project, set the mood.

The spacious living room is structured around two large custom-made sofas, with an unobstructed view of Mont Vallon, Méribel’s iconic peak. The ambience remains sober and contemporary, with the warm presence of old wood on the wall. An office area, first considered but then abandoned, has been replaced by a library.

Level 2: children’s sleeping area

This level, accessible by staircase from the first floor, houses four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and universe.

The first room, in soft greys, features a painting of a she-wolf and cubs. The second, in soft greens, features a snow leopard. The third, in glacier blue, features two single beds that can be converted into a double, under a visual of sleeping cubs.

A terracotta-toned guest bedroom, designed as a small suite, completes the first floor. A sauna is also accessible from the corridor.

Level 4: master suite under the roof

Under the roof, the master suite boasts generous space and plenty of natural light. White dominates, evoking snow and mountain peaks. A 2 x 2-meter TRECA king-size bed, dressing room, dressing table-desk area and large bathroom with shower and bathtub combine to create an intimate, comfortable and peaceful space. A large painting of a lion and lioness echoes the scenes chosen in the other bedrooms, for a touch of family continuity.

Tailor-made support from start to finish

Chacha was with the customer every step of the way: mood choices, inspiration boards, multiple proposals, frequent video exchanges, choice of materials, order tracking and last-minute adjustments. The objective was clear: to propose an elegant space, without excess, avoiding the rustic side, with real attention paid to daily uses, materials and the rhythm of a family’s life.

“They put their trust in the agency’s recognized expertise. Although we weren’t quite sure what they wanted at the outset, the project took shape as we exchanged ideas. We had to propose, listen and adjust. It was this constant, fluid dialogue that made the project such a success,” explains Chacha, proud of this sober, warm and contemporary chalet. The result: a soft, coherent place, neither ostentatious nor standardized, designed to last, to receive and to feel at home.

A terrace as a natural extension

The south-facing terrace extends the outdoor living space. A large Fermob table seats 12 guests. The chairs, in assorted shades of blue, add a touch of freshness, more colorful than the rest of the chalet.
