Model apartment and modeling

This interior design mission, carried out in close collaboration with Fatima Tamburini, also included the development of a typical apartment. Because even in the case of made-to-measure solutions, it is necessary to model certain applications, which can then be generalized to all apartments:

  • Choice of materials and location plans for floors, walls and ceilings.
  • Tile layout.
  • Interior joinery: selection, design, finishing.
  • Defining fixtures and fittings: kitchens, bathrooms…

Interior design mission

The design and layout of these common areas was entrusted to us by Terrésens’ “Identity and Decoration” manager, Fatima Tamburini. Maëlle, a senior interior designer with Agence Amevet, was tasked with turning her intuitions, biases and recommendations into reality.

Under her guidance, Fatima Tamburini’s ideas materialized into illustrations, material selection (floor and wall coverings), equipment choices… Under Agence Amevet’s direction, they became general design plans, or specific detail plans, then entrusted to the finishing contractors in charge of the site.

Furniture mission for 170 apartments

Fatima Tamburini, who was also responsible for the overall image of the apartments and the choice of furnishing concept, asked us to help her with the complex coordination of this project. A complexity measured by the thousands of items, from the smallest to the largest, that make up the furnishings for 170 apartments, delivered in two phases.

Each apartment must be analyzed and equipped according to its specific configuration and sleeping capacity. Nothing can be left to chance: furniture sizing, finishing touches, fixing pictures, lights, accessories, curtains, crockery, small appliances…

A multi-tasking context

To fully understand the role of the project designer, it’s worth immersing ourselves for a moment in the multi-tasking context, which, along with the management of an incompressible schedule, constitutes the key point of the project designer’s mission.

To list all the tasks is to draw up an almost endless “to do” list! Of course, you have to prepare quotations, then purchase orders. At the same time, you need to set up the logistics for delivering and checking orders.

When packages of any size arrive, they must be opened so that we can carry out a thorough and complete check. What’s missing? How many pieces of furniture or accessories have defects or are simply broken? Every time we receive a new order, we have to renew it, correct errors, and cascade the impact on schedules.

Made-to-measure, over and over again

Each apartment is a sum of details, made-to-measure over and over again,” comments Charlotte, in charge of the “builder” mission. We carried out a detailed study of each item to finalize the overall order for thousands of items from a multitude of specialized suppliers. Items that then have to be received, stored, distributed, installed, fixed, checked, received…”.

It’s a job that “requiresconstant involvement, both in the management team and in the field. It’s a big organizational job, proportional to the volume of furniture and objects to be handled.

“We were able to successfully complete this project thanks to the expertise of our entire team of designers. Together, we were able to manage all the key stages in a tight schedule: handover of the buildings, finalization of the finishing work, arrival of the owners…”
