Douceurs et Chocolats: A Haven for Lovers of Cocoa

“Douceurs et Chocolats”: a chocolate factory and tearoom in the center of Les Gets (74)

In the lively streets of the resort of Les Gets, a new destination has opened its doors, bringing with it a sense of warmth and indulgence. More than a chocolate shop and tearoom, **Douceurs et Chocolats**, located at the foot of the Nagano—a former hotel transformed into a high-end residence—has become a favoured meeting place for lovers of fine flavours and convivial moments.

“Douceurs et Chocolats is, in a way, an extension of the owners’ love for chocolate—they are also the managers of the business,” explains Élodie, interior architect and project lead at Agence Amevet. “They already had a shop, but they wanted a new, more elegant space, above all one that would combine the sale of chocolates with a cosy, welcoming atmosphere, like a tearoom, where guests could enjoy pastries while sipping hot drinks.”

This move upmarket was shaped around a clear guiding idea: to elevate chocolate in all its forms. “The aim was not to do more, but to do better,” Élodie adds. “We worked on a clean, refined style—both authentic and contemporary—rooted in the mountain spirit through the use of reclaimed wood, yet enhanced with modern touches that showcase the products.”

The evocation of casting, molding and textures

Three imposing carved wooden pillars, with their delicate moldings, evoke the work on the cocoa bean, the pouring and shaping of the raw material, its transformation into figurines and pastry creations.

Behind the bank, screen-printed glass adds a graphic touch, echoing the textures and roughness of chocolate in its various forms, while the meticulously designed lighting underlines the muted ambience.

In the tea room area, a soft, enveloping atmosphere invites you to relax. Two fluted hanging lights, inspired by the undulations of poured chocolate, diffuse a subdued light, reinforcing the sensation of a cocoon in which to linger.

The chocolatier’s hand, the colors of chocolate

As soon as you enter, one thing immediately catches your eye: a large refrigerated bank, covered with a “handmade” coating, evoking the hand of the chocolatier, his know-how, his meticulous work with raw materials. Artisanal quality, reflected in the products on display!

The chromatic universe, thought out down to the smallest detail, revolves around the emblematic shades of chocolate: white, dark and milk. Mutina’s tiles, with their subtle patterns and skilfully combined hues, extend this delicate, gourmet palette.

An architectural approach down to the last detail

Agence Amevet didn’t just imagine a harmonious space: it orchestrated every stage of the project, including the selection of contractors and careful monitoring of costs.

The entire team – from the interior designer to the construction economist to the project manager – is to be credited with a result that lives up to the owners’ expectations.
