Renovating and fitting out a chalet in Méribel

In Méribel, the interior architects of Agence Amevet carried out the complete renovation of a historic chalet built in 1936. The interior layout was entirely reimagined, beginning with a major restructuring of all the chalet’s volumes.

The organization of volumes, the fluidity of space, and the use of soft tones lend great serenity to the overall ambience of this chalet. This harmony is also skilfully enhanced by a few designer touches. Two acid-colored Hay armchairs add brightness and cheerfulness. A feather sofa with rounded, modern lines invites comfortable fireside moments… A “Petite friture” pendant light evokes poetry above a convivial Scandinavian-style dining table. A floor lamp inspired by designer Serge Mouille adds a retro touch. The chalet’s decor has also been personalized by the owners: objects of Tibetan origin fit in perfectly with the mountain decor and invite a little spirituality. Finally, windows and bay windows are “dressed” in Arpin fabric, made from pure Savoy virgin wool, offering “soft, natural colors to the touch for a relaxing sense of well-being”.

For the renovation of this chalet, and more specifically for the rework, our interior architects managed the project in compliance with co-ownership regulations and in conjunction with a structural design office.

The chalet is now contemporary in style, while using traditional, noble materials such as wood, stone, metal and glass, perfectly in tune with the new codes of mountain decoration.

This project is also distinguished by a unique piece: the staircase. This “work of art”, created by a local craftsman, gives the chalet a strong identity. Another, more anecdotal staircase, leading to the mezzanine, was made in metal, as if it were simply bent to give the shape of the steps.

The owners: “We were put in touch by a real estate agent who knew Pierre François AMEVET and his team; he had received very good feedback and wanted to direct his clients to reliable professionals. The first contact with Pierre François lasted 4 or 5 hours! He was available, responsive, a good listener… Together we got to the bottom of things. After that, the projects lived up to the expectations of the meeting. With his team, everything also went very well… These are people who know who you are, who will get back to you or, if they’re not there, call you back or send you an e-mail… They are all very reassuring, never hesitating to come and see you. The same goes for their craftsmen, who are very good and come back whenever necessary… The experience was so conclusive that we have entrusted a new project, in our main residence, to Pierre François AMEVET and his team. “
