The project included extensive work on the roof, the creation of balconies on the south and east facades, the renovation and conversion of the attic space into a main living area, and the creation of new openings modelled on the old ones…
In the heart of this mountain village of less than 3,000 inhabitants, there was an old stable, so typical that it was part of the commune’s architectural heritage.
After housing generations of dairy cows, its destiny took a new direction.
Agence Amevet was given the task of turning it into a contemporary chalet of 200 m2 over 5 levels (including 2 basement levels).
“Originally, our chalet was an old barn, so it had to be completely renovated, inside and out. We also decided to enlarge the space, by digging a second basement, which made the project more complicated. Agence Amevet’s team of experienced architects worked patiently with us, integrating our wishes and ensuring that the final design and features met the local constraints for this type of chalet.
The interior decorators guided us with talent in our choices, from curtains to faucets… They respected our style preferences and ideas, and knew when we were going too “off-piste”!
We were fascinated by the attention to detail and the quality of the many professionals involved in the project: electricians, plumbers, carpenters, masons, plasterers… Our satisfaction was really everyone’s priority!
Throughout the project, we were impressed by the professionalism and commitment of the Amevet team. We live in England and communicated mainly by e-mail and occasional visits. Despite the distance and language barrier, communication and decision-making always seemed very easy…
Today, we’re delighted with our chalet. It’s beautiful, inside and out: it really is our second home. We recommend Agence Amevet without reservation!
The renovation was carried out with the constant aim of enhancing the elements that, over time, have become part of the history of this barn. The barn door was preserved, as was the rendering on the facade… The spirit of authenticity can be seen in the solid wood floors in dark shades, the plaster rendering, the old wood and the spray-treated wood… However, the treatment of the volumes, the renovation techniques used and the quality and comfort of the equipment installed (lighting, sanitary facilities, etc.) make the final result absolutely contemporary!
