PHASE 2

Renovation of Hôtel-Restaurant L’ARCALOD in Doussard

In 2017, our interior architects completed a first phase of renovation at Hôtel L’Arcalod, focusing on the welcome areas, reception, bar, and a cozy corner (see PHASE 1).

This initial phase fully met the clients’ expectations.

Space organization :

The restaurant

Our interior designers renovated the existing restaurant area. This area was doubled thanks to the use of part of a previously unused storeroom.

The restaurant is now directly linked to the other areas. Thanks to the use of glass frames, it opens onto the reception hall, the kitchens visible to customers, and the table d’hôtes and breakfast area. The restaurant benefits from numerous openings onto the outdoor terrace.

This is why Agence Amevet has been commissioned to carry out the second phase of work, involving :

  • Restaurant expansion
  • Kitchen relocation
  • Creation of a terrace for the restaurant
  • Creation of 5 hotel rooms

The aim of this project was, first and foremost, to ensure continuity with PHASE 1:

  • In terms of space organization
  • In terms of atmosphere

Breakfast area:

To meet the needs of the hotel’s clientele, our interior designers have created a multifunctional breakfast area. A set of custom-made fixtures and fittings accommodates all the necessary elements (coffee and juice machines, crockery, cold units, etc.). During the day, this space can become a “table d’hôtes” area, thanks to a special system of retractable doors that hides all the morning’s essentials.

Rooms:

As for the 5 bedrooms, they have been designed in the rear part of the building, which previously housed the kitchen and seminar room. Each of the 5 rooms has its own corridor. Each room has its own access to the outside, with a small garden area.

They are organized to cater for different types of customer: short- or medium-stay, couples or families…

In one of the bedrooms, an open-plan area plays on versatility: our interior designers have imagined bunk beds in the form of alcoves. For a family with children, this layout offers all the comforts of a sleeping area. It also features a magnificent wallpaper: a mountain landscape, giving the illusion of depth and space.

The reorganization also gave the space a new dynamic. In fact, the increase in the restaurant’s surface area enhances the activity of the establishment, which is already recognized as a very good restaurant.

The new kitchen is now located in the other part of the storeroom. Making it visible to customers also highlights the quality of fresh, local produce, and the work of passionate chefs.

Terrace:

Benefiting from a majestic setting, the terrace was designed as a continuation of the dining room, already overhanging the natural terrain. A pergola provides shelter from the sun or rain, and above all offers a practical, long-lasting structure that avoids the need for a multitude of parasols (impractical, they would also have obscured the view).

The ambience of the project

Our interior designers have imagined an ambience that is in keeping with the work carried out in PHASE 1 = a new dimension in design.>

The aim is to create harmony and aesthetic coherence.

The main elements linking the two phases are :

  • Light oak
  • Cleat-type wall coverings (rhythm of vertical lines)
  • A neutral color base for walls and floors
  • A few touches of bright color are used on targeted surfaces. These hues refer to the surrounding nature: the turquoise of the lake, the green and yellow of the mountains…
  • Specific work on lighting and lighting ambience
  • Colorful, interchangeable furniture also adds a touch of dynamism.
  • Rattan (found in lighting, furniture, pergolas, etc.)

PHASE 2 of the program also emphasized the link between inside and outside. Nature “enters” the restaurant. Artificial plants are attached to a light, elegant hopper behind the benches. Artificial climbing plants decorate the various wooden pillars. The pergola is also adorned with artificial plants. They do their job while waiting for natural plants to grow.

While the overall ambience is very contemporary, a “family home” feel is nonetheless present. This is an important feature, as it reflects the quality of the welcome offered by the hotel’s owners. This “family home” feel is particularly evident in the breakfast/table d’hôtes area, with its wired-glass furniture fronts, industrial lighting and wall panels overlaid with real chicken wire.

In conclusion, l’Arcalod offers a style of decoration in tune with the times that will also stand the test of time, and a quality of design both in the organization of space and in the use of noble materials.
