Renovation and outfitting of a mountain log cabin

Agence Amevet, an interior architecture agency, carried out the complete renovation of a log chalet. And it was no easy task, according to the owner himself : « What Pierre-François Amevet and his team achieved in my chalet is an exceptional success. Yet it wasn’t easy-it was a log chalet (round timber), where nothing was straight ! »

When he acquired the property, the owner had a genuine love at first sight for the location. He was also captivated by the structure of the building. Built using an ancestral construction system, this log chalet offers many advantages : durability, respect for the environment, and a strong, distinctive character - often associated with images of lumberjack cabins or American trappers’ homes.

For this project, L’Agence Amevet also called on particularly qualified craftsmen to carry out very specific work. For example:

  • Gumming (light sandblasting) of interior and exterior facings, to obtain a bleached shade.
  • Creation of made-to-measure metal elements (staircases, railings, furniture, etc.).

The renovation was designed to suit the owner’s epicurean temperament. Agence Amevet assisted the owner in his choice of furniture and in the creation of headboards, curtains, decorative cushions…

Agence Amevet was able to put together a team with its own craftsmen and craftsmen suggested by the client. What I really appreciated during the project was the flexibility. The mix of teams was perfect, notes the owner. He adds: Agence Amevet’s strengths lie in their ability to listen and understand, their many high-quality contributions, and their incredible ability to adapt to constraints while remaining consistent with the project.”

While the owner wanted to preserve the soul of the place, he also wanted to give it a much more contemporary style. To reconcile these objectives, our interior designers created a new atmosphere, and took into account all the complexities of the renovation.

Agence Amevet particularly appreciated this project, which enabled us to put all our technical expertise to work, and led us to find innovative solutions. Our interior designers took into account a number of issues, mainly related to working with wood, a living material that is constantly changing. For example, this chalet has lost 60 cm in height since it was built. This had to be taken into account in the construction of linings and partitions, as well as in the integration of networks (electrical, sanitary…).
