COTTAGE FURNISHINGS

Mountain chalet decoration and furnishings

For many years, Agence Amevet has been recognized as an expert in interior architecture for mountain chalets. This includes the design of their decoration and furnishings. The decor, predominantly authentic and/or contemporary, sets the overall mood. The choice of furnishings, often sturdy and made from natural materials, designed to blend in with the aesthetics of the mountain environment, also plays a part.

Our latest mountain chalet furnishing projects

Agence Amevet works with chalet owners in two ways. Directly with French and foreign customers, who have clearly understood the advantages of delegating this mission to interior design professionals with extensive experience in space optimization. Indirectly, through developers and builders who recommend us to their customers.

Customizing a mountain chalet means creating and designing furniture specially adapted to the dimensions, style and specific needs of the chalet. Rather than buying “prefabricated” furniture in stores, the made-to-measure option creates unique pieces that fit perfectly into the space and meet the owner’s requirements. Agence Amevet knows how to respond to this type of request and works with designers, cabinet-makers and other craftsmen specialized in made-to-measure.

The advantages of made-to-measure :

  • Adapting to the space. Even in complicated nooks and crannies, made-to-measure furniture fits perfectly.
  • The choice of a personalized style. You can create a unique interior that stands out from the standard options.
  • Quality and durability. Made-to-measure furniture is manufactured with particular attention to detail and the quality of the materials used.
  • Storage optimization. You can add built-in cupboards, custom-made shelves or beds with built-in storage drawers.

Here are a few tips on how to make the most of a chalet’s limited dimensions to create a functional, comfortable interior.

  • Choose multi-functional furniture: a sofa-bed or pull-out bed in the living room can provide extra sleeping space for guests, a table with built-in storage drawers and benches with storage space under the seat…
  • Use the walls: wall-mounted shelves, floating shelves, overhead cabinets… Wall hooks and bars can be used to hang kitchen utensils, clothes, outdoor equipment…
  • Fit out the nooks and crannies: to create custom storage units, such as built-in cupboards, bookcases or decorative niches.
  • Think lighting carefully: the right use of natural light can give the illusion of a larger space. Distribute light sources evenly to eliminate dark corners and create a welcoming environment.
  • Colors and mirrors: light, neutral colors for walls and floor coverings visually enlarge the space, while well-placed mirrors give an impression of openness and depth.
  • Minimalism: limit decorative objects and bulky furniture to avoid visual overload and let energy and light circulate.

Agence Amevet’s interior designers will tell you: ambiance and overall image are key criteria.

  • Use natural materials such as wood, stone or metal for floors, walls, ceilings and furniture.
  • Wood-burning fireplaces and stoves not only provide warmth, but also a touch of cosiness and rustic charm.
  • Earth tones, shades of brown, ochre, red and green, for walls, textiles and accessories, recall the surrounding nature and create a warm atmosphere.
  • Soft, comfortable textiles for curtains, cushions, rugs and blankets, such as natural materials like wool, linen and cotton, bring warmth and comfort.
  • Soft, subdued lighting with accent lamps, floor lamps, candles or string lights and fabric shades create a more intimate ambience.
  • Authentic decorations evoke the local mountain atmosphere. Sheepskins, cowhide rugs, wicker baskets and wood carvings add a touch of authenticity.

If your chalet offers a view of the mountains, forests or surrounding countryside, maximize this view by using large windows, bay windows or patio doors.

  • Install comfortable seating, cozy plaids and lighting on terraces and balconies.

A range of furniture from the best-known brands

How does Agence Amevet select chalet furniture?

  • We start by meeting with our customers to understand their needs and preferences in terms of style, functionality, budget and schedule.
  • At the same time, we carry out a detailed analysis of the available space: room dimensions, architectural constraints, openings, unique features of the space.
  • We imagine an overall concept that is illustrated by a style proposal, color palettes, materials and textures.
  • We carry out in-depth research to find parts that match the established concept. We make full use of our network of manufacturers, while examining all other sources.
  • We then prepare a presentation of the selected furniture options, including moodboards, fabric and material samples, reference images, sketches…
  • Plans and technical drawings complete the project and gradually lead to a decision.
  • We take care of placing orders and coordinating deliveries.
  • We make sure that deadlines are met, and carry out a quality control on each part delivered.
  • All that’s left to do is to lay out each piece of furniture, arrange the spaces, carry out the various installation and finishing operations, and dispose of the packaging for recycling.

Styles and ambiances to suit all tastes

If you’re more of a cocooning type, a fan of a cozy, comfortable atmosphere, you’ll appreciate our vision of Scandinavian style, known as “hygge”.

If the word “cosy” is more to your taste, we’ve got a number of projects to show you. Soft textiles and lighting, warm colors, plush cushions and blankets, inviting decorative elements all promote intimacy and well-being.

Would you like to combine traditional alpine aesthetics with contemporary elements to create a modern ambience in your mountain chalet? By combining a natural element, such as wood and stone, with clean lines and minimalist finishes, we offer elegant, contemporary atmospheres.

In a mountain chalet, a rustic ambience evokes a return to roots and nature. Rough-hewn wooden elements, such as exposed beams, wooden floors and sturdy furniture, are key features that we wield with pleasure and dexterity. A more committed variant: the timeless solid wood ambience, which for many evokes the timeless mountain chalet forever.
